Bun in the Oven

Posted August 13, 2012

No, I haven't had the baby yet. I get asked that at least once a day by various people; the landlord, my sister, friends; all well-meaning and usually it makes me laugh. At today's midwife visit Rhonda said she figures I might only have a week to go with the way I look and the way my innards are behaving. Yay! While I was there I weighed myself again for dosage of medicine purposes and apparently haven't gained a pound since last time, a month or so ago. I'm still at 195, which is weird because with Gabe I hit about 215. *shrug* At least we know now incase I need meds at the hospital. Kat is still, or has become again, posterior, meaning she's stargazing up through my belly button instead of looking back/out my tailbone, so this also means more time in child's pose and/or just on my hands and knees (not comfy even at the best of times). We did an hour and a half hike yesterday at Piper's Lagoon Park and went back today for a swim so I'm hoping that helps.

A sandy, grassy ocean shoreline

It's definitely time for that awkward, no balance, incredibly low sense of gravity feeling, so Gabe and Ryan played around like mountain goats on the narrow, rocky trails and I plodded along and enjoyed the views. At one point they slipped down a steep hill to the cobble and rock beach below and I had no choice but to wait at the top until they came back. It was alright; there was a stiff breeze coming in off the ocean, eagles were flying about, and the sun was strong and warm. It was a nice place to centre myself and do some quiet meditation, so I did. Officially being on maternity leave is nice.

You've seen my FAQ on helping posterior babies rotate, right? Check my main website for details.

Sit knees lower than hips when seated, and as you mentioned, the all-fours position. Ice on the back during labor will sometimes help babies turn too. See the website for further ideas.

Enjoy these last few days of relative peace! :-) Glad you are getting some time off to just relax before baby.

That is some inspirational stuff. Never knew that thoughts might be this varied. Many thanks for all of the enthusiasm to offer such beneficial data right here.
