Good Monday, everyone! Hope you had a great weekend; we did! There was some 'oh gods it's too hot' but Pagan Pride on Saturday was really fun and on Sunday we went back to Neck Point for a swim and then to a bbq hosted by Ry's work. Friday though, I got my Mega Yoga dvd in the mail from Carolyn! A brief review (as I'm getting ready right now for my first day at the new job):
First, the good: I learned how to do Child's Pose without getting in my own way! The dvd is aimed at beginners who are very new to yoga, the instructions are easy to follow and stresses the importance of going at your own pace with good breathing. The woman performing the poses is definitely plus-size compared to every other yoga dvd I've seen.
The not-so-good: This program is designed very much for beginners! I've been doing yoga off and on for years and though I'm not great at it, I'm familiar enough with the practise that there were times I wanted to just skip ahead and see what was next. The poses are basic with none challenging you any farther than the everyday. It doesn't appear that there's room to really push into deep stretches or more advanced poses. As far as I can tell, they're not even included!
What I'm thinking: Overall I'd give this 3/5 stars. It would've been 4 but I found it too easy. That's just me though. If you're a larger person who really wants to begin a yoga routine I highly recommend this program. I will continue to alternate between this program and the power-yoga dvd with Rodney Yee, saving it for days when my energy isn't as high. Many many thanks to Carolyn who offered to share it with me!
