Merry Monday

Posted January 30, 2012

If anyone remembers, a while back I posted about a small, heart-shaped sign that used to hang in my old kitchen. It says "Broken cookies don't have calories". I haven't hung it up in my new kitchen because that kind of thinking just isn't me anymore, but I don't want to throw it away or pass its message on to anyone else. So, I want to repurpose it. This is where you come in, because I've decided to hold a contest!

  • Submit your suggestion for sign content as a comment to this post. Max 2 entries per person please!
  • After a week I'll choose the one I like the best (or if there are a bunch of really good ones, I'll use a random number generator).
  • The winner will be announced next Monday here at the blog.
  • What's the prize? A pair of hand-made sterling silver and semi-precious stone earrings, from me to you! Here's an example of some I've done before. <--- Click me!

That's it! Spread this around please as I'd love to get a LOT of entries. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are looking at a pleasant week ahead and that your Monday didn't start like this: (Image copyright JessKat83)

Wait. . .what?? Sunlight?? GAH!!

Just kidding! I've been lurking on the blog and even thinking of some guest posts! Sadly I am a procrastinator of epic proportions. However, I have some ideas for your old cookie:

1) Repaint it with the message:

LIFE AFFIRMING COOKIES!! With some sort of happy face. Because, cookies are flippin' awesome!

2)Paint it with something like "You look very smart this morning" or another nice affirmation. Like "OMG YOUR ASS IF OFF DA' CHAIN!" :)

How about: "Be nice or leave"?

Hello! I would paint the heart and then put a nice paper frame on it saying: broken cookies : love them to bits! with all the little crumbles around. You can use scrapbooking frames and paper, and sand and rocks to mimic the crumbles. Other idea, paint it white, and make cute kawaii cookies, fruit, veg with some Fimo. Glue the food on the rim of the heart, leaving the center white. and when it's dry immerse it in glass finish lacquer, then let it dry. repeat until very glossy. When it's ready, you can write on it with a dry erase marker, it makes a dry erase memo!! You can write things such as : HAES- loving your body, step by step, bite by bite!

There we go!

"What do you feel like right now?" would be the message I would suggest.
I am working on being more present, not going through life on auto-pilot as is my tendency.

And I am currently contemplating making curry, coconut, chocolate chip cookies as an experiment. Cookies are awesome.

Paint out the words, and then paint the whole heart in a color you like. Then paint the words "I Love You, Body". Or a riff on that. Decorate with collage elements that you like (brass leaves, pearls... whatever strikes your fancy).
