Oh Campbell-On Bliss

Posted October 26, 2012

After Thursday's post about indulgence I found this on my FB wall via Naturally Heartfelt:

"If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you see that, you begin to meet people who are in your field of bliss, and they open doors for you. I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be."
Joseph Campbell in Reflections in the Art of Living: A Joseph Campbell Companion

Yup, it's like that. I wish I knew what my bliss *was*, then I could follow it. If I think about the times in my life when I've been happiest and felt like I was really doing something it's been when I've been doing things like Pagan Pride, activism work and the multicultural festival. I love connecting with people and organizing things and making a difference. If I could do that for my life I think I'd be happy. That's why when I went back to school I dove into the Community Economic and Social Development program-it's like economics, environmentalism, feminism and the humanities rolled up into one big "How Can We Improve The World?" set of courses.

Happy Friday and I hope you're following your bliss!
